Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant exited his first game against his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies, during the fourth quarter on Thursday night. The departure was caused by a left hamstring injury that occurred while he was playing.
Morant recorded 14 points and three assists in 23 minutes of action before leaving the court. He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the contest, which ended in a 124-103 defeat for the Trail Blazers.
Following the game, head coach Micah Nori stated that Morant felt a twinge in his hamstring. Nori expressed hope to have more clarity on the severity of the injury by Friday, adding that he hopes it is nothing major.
This incident marks a setback for Morant in his first season with Portland after spending seven years with Memphis. Prior to this loss, the Trail Blazers had started the season with a 3-0 record. In those games, Morant averaged 16.3 points and 6.3 assists per game while playing 26.7 minutes.
